By becoming a student member of the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV), you will take a significant step towards achieving your professional aspirations. Our membership is designed for individuals who are passionate about jewellery valuation and are committed to advancing their skills in this rewarding field.

To qualify, you must possess an internationally recognised gemmological qualification and demonstrate current gemmological skills. Alternatively, you may be studying the GAA course in Australia at a Year 2 level and wish to further your education as a jewellery valuer. Additionally, having some jewellery trade experience or being actively involved in the industry will greatly benefit your journey.

As a student member, you will gain immediate access to a $595.00 course, mentorship during your gemmological studies and the opportunity to see if jewellery valuation is the right fit for you.

However, please note that admittance as a student member of the NCJV does not automatically grant you admission to the NCJV Jewellery Valuers Course.

Pearls as One Course

The Pearls Course offered by the CPAA (Cultured Pearl Association of America) is a comprehensive program designed to educate participants about the fascinating world of pearls. This course is tailored for industry professionals, collectors, and enthusiasts seeking to enhance their understanding of pearls, from their formation to their market significance.

Key Components of the Course

Understanding Pearl Formation:

  • Participants will learn about the natural and cultured processes that result in pearl formation. The course covers the biology of molluscs, the environment in which pearls develop, and the various factors that influence their growth.

Types of Pearls:

  • The course provides an overview of different types of pearls, including Akoya, Tahitian, South Sea, and freshwater pearls. Each type's unique characteristics, origins, and cultivation methods are explored to give participants a well-rounded understanding of the pearl varieties available in the market.

Grading and Quality Assessment:

  • A significant focus of the course is on the criteria used for grading pearls. Participants will learn about the key attributes that determine pearl quality, including lustre, surface quality, shape, size, and colour.
